Our Process
Our treatment utilizes a Non-Pressure sprayed Soft-Wash solution mixture that contains a moderate percentage of Sodium Hypochlorite (Liquid Chlorine: The same ingredient found in swimming pools and drinking water). Please note that this is the only process recommended by the ARMA (Asphalt Roofing Manufactures Association) and the RCIA (Roof Cleaning Institute of America) for effectively removing algae stains from shingles. Manufacturers include GAF and Owens Corning -two of the largest Shingle Roofing manufacturers. Any other process may void the original shingle warranty.
Sodium Hypochlorite biodegrades into oxygen, salt, and water. In fact, it begins and ends as saltwater.
Due to possible over-spray of the application, our ground technician thoroughly applies water (from your outside water supply) to all vegetation, decks, furniture, and may include upper level siding and windows. We suggest that you move any deck furniture, umbrellas, etc. (if possible) away from your roof overhang area. We will be glad to assist. Note: If necessary, the ground technician will rinse your windows. BioPro recommends a thorough window cleaning after our treatment to help avoid the possibility of any "hard water" spotting.
Our roof treatment method requires no rinsing... other than from nature. Rain is the most effective rinse resulting in the best possible cleaning.
If moss or lichen fungus are present, these hearty conditions require additional time to rinse off the roof because of how they attach themselves to the shingle granules and fibers. You'll immediately see the moss turn white in color and then to brown, indicating that it has been killed. Depending on the amount of growth, it may take several weeks and a few good rain showers to naturally remove all of the dead fungus.
Our soft washing method restores beauty, extends the life of shingles, and keeps black roof algae from coming back for years.
